Conventional products

Conventional household products are heavily involved in animal exploitation, as the companies behind these brands will commission animal experiments so new ingredients can be put on the market. This despite the fact that there are already safe ingredients on the market.

New ingredients such as enzymes, optical brighteners, surfactants and chemical builders have all been thoroughly tested on animals before being used in washing powders and liquids.

The chemical cocktail in ingredients found in conventional household cleaners, detergents and soaps are also known to have detrimental and damaging effects on the environment, human and nonhuman animals.

Make your own products!

You can make your own household cleaners by just using some very basic and common ingredients, such as:
  • Baking soda,
  • Vinegar,
  • Lemon juice.
For more information, read "Non-toxic home cleaning."

Ecover

We do not recommend Ecover as a brand suitable for vegans due to their weak animal testing policy.

Ecover operates on a 5 years rolling rule.
Ecover also tests their products on Daphnias, who are aquatic animals.

For more information, read "Is Ecover suitable for vegans?"

Three corporations dominate the Household Cleaning market :
  • Procter & Gamble,
